The Brainerd Public Utilities (BPU), a municipally-owned electric, water, and wastewater treatment services agency, provides water for about 13,590 residents living in the area of Brainerd, a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota. Established in 1892, the Brainerd Public Utilities Water System is currently obtaining its supply from a groundwater source: six wells that draw water from the Quaternary Water Table Aquifer.
