The Loudoun Water - Central System, under Loudoun County Sanitation Authority, provides water for about 286,202 residents living in the Ashburn area. Established in 1959, the Loudoun Water - Central System collects water from the Potomac River and Goose Creek. Drinking water from the Potomac River is fully treated by the wholesaler, Fairfax Water, while drinking water from Goose Creek is fully treated by Loudoun Water at the Goose Creek Water Treatment Facility.
