The Hanover Suburban Water System, a public community water system under the County Department of Public Utilities, provides water for about 71,000 residents living in the area of Hanover, Virginia. Established in 1720, the Hanover Suburban Water System collects water from two surface water sources: the James River via the City of Richmond Water Treatment Plant and the Henrico County Water Treatment Plant, and the North Anna River via the Doswell Water Treatment Plant.

Lead Report (2019)

A

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about Hanover County Water? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, Hanover County Water received the best-possible grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were better than the Public Health Goal and most other water providers we've analyzed.
