The City of Fort Lee Water provides water for about 21,615 residents living in the Hopewell area, Virginia. Established in 1917, the City of Fort Lee collects its supply from a surface water source supplied from both the Appomattox River Water Authority (ARWA) in Petersburg and Virginia American Water (VAWC) in Hopewell. For the Hopewell District, the water comes from the Appomattox River, at the confluence with the James River.

Lead Report (2020)

A

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about Fort Lee Water? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, Fort Lee Water received the best-possible grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were better than the Public Health Goal and most other water providers we've analyzed.
