The Town of Rocky Mount Water supplies water to about 6,000 residents of Rocky Mount in Franklin County. Rocky Mount Water Department pumps water from the Blackwater River into its Water Treatment Plant, which treats water through multi-stage conventional processes, including the addition of poly-aluminium chloride, soda ash, polyphosphate for corrosion control, chlorine for disinfection, and fluoride for healthy teeth. Up to two million gallons of potable water are produced daily and are stored in five storage tanks of 2.4 million gallons capacity.
