The City of Port St. Joe Water, a public community water system under the City Water and Wastewater Department, provides water for about 13,682 residents living in Port St. Joe, a city located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and State Road 71 and the county seat of Gulf County, Florida. Established in 1835, the City of Port St. Joe Water System currently obtains its supply of groundwater sources, primarily wells that pump from Chipola River via a seventeen-mile freshwater canal whereas the old water plant drew water from the Florida Aquifer.
