The City of Rockford Water supplies water to about 7,160 residents living in the Rockford area of Kent County, as well as parts of Algoma, Cannon, and Courtland Townships in Michigan. The City's Water Department collects water from three wells in the southeast region of the city that draw groundwater from an Aquifer several feet below the ground. The water is pumped to the Rockford Water Treatment Plant, where it is treated through aeration, filtration, orthopolyphosphate addition, chlorination, and other processes. The treated water is distributed over approximately 40 miles of water mains.
