The Florida Governmental Utility Authority - Gulf Harbors System provides water services to about 9,110 residents living in the New Port Richey area of Pasco County. The Authority was established in 1999 through an inter-agreement between Brevard, Lee, Polk, and Sarasota counties to contribute their resources and offer affordable drinking water and wastewater resources to the residents. The FGUA-Gulf Harbors obtains water from the Floridan Aquifer, a groundwater source, and treats it with chlorine for disinfection and aquamag for removing lead, iron, and copper.
