Town of Fort Myers Beach Water, a public community water system under the City Utilities Department, provides water to about 6,900 residents living in Fort Myers Beach, on Estero Island, off the southwest Florida coast. Founded in 1995, the Town of Fort Myers Beach Water System obtains water from groundwater sources, primarily wells that drill into the aquifer underneath the area. Additionally, the system has two water treatment plants: The Green Meadows and the Corkscrew. Waters obtained from the Sandstone Aquifer, Surficial Aquifer, and Lower Hawthorn Aquifer from the Green Meadows Wellfield are treated first at the Green Meadows Water Treatment Plant before being blended with the water from the Corkscrew Wellfield.
