The City of Harrisonburg Water, under the City Department of Public Utilities, provides water for about 48,914 residents living in the area of Harrisonburg, Virginia. Established in 1916, the City of Harrisonburg Water Utilities Department is currently obtaining its supply from two surface water supply sources: the Dry River in Rawley Springs Watershed including the Switzer Reservoir Impoundment and the North River in Bridgewater. Approximately 50% of Harrisonburg’s water comes from each source.
