The City Of Howell Water supplies water to about 10,068 residents living in the Howell area in Livingston County, Michigan. Founded in 1894, the City Of Howell Water Department utilizes groundwater from deep rock wells drilled over 400 feet into the Michigan formation and the deeper Marshall sandstone aquifer. The water is pumped to the treatment facility, which uses Claricone and rapid sand filters to soften and filter it. It is then chlorinated, fluoridated, and stored in the reservoirs.
