The Town of Manchester Water, under the Town Department of Water and Sewer, provides water for about 51,066 residents living in the area of Manchester, Connecticut. Established in 1823, the Manchester Water Department is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of seven surface water reservoirs (Globe Hollow, Porter, Lydall #1, Lydall #2, Howard, Risley and Buckingham); and ten active groundwater wells that pump from the Stratified-Drift and Arkosic Bedrock surficial aquifers beneath Manchester.
