Watertown Fire District, a public community water system under the local government, provides water to about 6,718 residents living in Watertown in Litchfield County, Connecticut. Founded in 1900, the Watertown Fire District System obtains its supply from wells and groundwater sources, primarily wells that drill into the Aquifer underneath the area along the Nonnewaug River in Woodbury. Furthermore, to increase the Nonnewaug River's water, the water system owns and operates two surface reservoirs: Lockwood Reservoir, located in Bethlehem, and Judd Pond, located in Watertown.
