The City of McHenry Water Division, under the City Public Works Department, provides water for about 22,020 residents living in the McHenry area, Illinois. Established in 1872, the City of McHenry collects its supply from a groundwater source, eight main deep wells, and two backup wells that draw from the aquifers beneath McHenry area.
