The City of Tavares Water System, under the City Department of Utilities, provides water for about 38,297 residents living in the area of Tavares, Florida. Established in 1880, the Tavares Water System currently obtains its supply from a groundwater source, seven wells that pump water from the Floridan Aquifer.
