The Pasco County Utilities (PCU) - Pasco County Regional Public Water System provides water for about 214,409 residents living in the New Port Richey City area. Established in 1887, the PCUD-Pasco County Regional Public Water System collects a dynamic blend of groundwater, surface water, and desalinated water, depending on availability of supply: (1) Groundwater are pumped from wells drawn from the Floridan Aquifer; (2) surface water supply are drawn from the Alafia River, Hillsborough River, C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir and the Tampa Bypass Canal; while (3) the desalinated supply is drawn from the Hillsborough Bay.
