The White County Water Authority supplies water to about 4,420 residents living in the Cleveland region in Georgia. Water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. Founded in 1984, White County Water Authority operates one 45-acre raw water reservoir with a capacity of 1.8 million gallons per day. The water originates from Turner & Cathy Creek watershed, a surface water source, and is treated at Turner Creek Water Treatment Plant, which uses a micro-floc filtration technique to deliver potable water. Treatment processes involve disinfection with Chlorine and the addition of Lime and sodium Bicarbonate for pH adjustment, Phosphate for corrosion control, and Fluoride for strong teeth. The Water Department distributes water across approximately 123 miles of water mains.
