The City of Auburn Water supplies water to about 8,094 residents living in the Auburn area of Barrow County, Georgia. The Auburn Water Department purchases water from the Barrow County Water Authority, which buys from the Upper Oconee Basin Water Authority. The water originates from Bear Creek and the Middle Oconee River. The City of Auburn also has a connection with Gwinnett County Water System for emergency water supply. The source water is treated with chlorine for disinfection and fluoride for dental health.
