The Augusta Utilities, with its Augusta-Richmond County Water System, provides water for about 204,000 residents living in the Augusta area and South Richmond County. Established in 1736, the Augusta-Richmond County Water collects its supply from the Savannah River via the Highland Avenue Water Treatment Facility and the Max Hicks Plant.
