The City of Bellevue Utilities provides water services to about 8,203 residents living in the Bellevue area of Huron County. Founded in 1872, the Bellevue Water Department collects water from Frink Run and Berry Creek and purchases additional water from Erie County Water, which in turn buys treated water from the City of Sandusky and the City of Huron, which both draw from Lake Erie. The water undergoes several treatment processes, including softening with lime, coagulation with ferric chloride, sedimentation, stabilization, sand filtration, fluoridation, and disinfection with chlorine.
