The Village of Barnesville Water, a public community water system under the Water and Sewer Department, provides water to about 6,500 residents living in Barnesville, Belmont County, Ohio. Founded in 1808, the Village of Barnesville Water System currently obtains its supply from various surface water sources: Reservoir 1 located on Township Road, Reservoir 2 on County Road 122, and Slope Creek Reservoir in Somerset Township. Furthermore, these three sources can make up over 800 million gallons of raw water, which is then treated first before distribution to consumers.
