The Ashtabula County Water System, a public community water system under the County Department of Environmental Services - Water Utility Information, provides water for about 14,200 residents living in the area of Jefferson, a village in Ashtabula County, Ohio. Established in 1808 and later organized in 1811, the Ashtabula County Water System currently obtains its supply via purchase from Aqua Ohio Water Company – Ashtabula Water System, which uses surface water from two intakes in Lake Erie, to serve customers of the Ashtabula County Water System. The Ashtabula County Water System also has an auxiliary/emergency/back-up connection with Lake County Dept. of Utilities (LCDU).
