The City of Adel Water, a public community water system under the City Water and Sewer Division of the Utilities Department, provides water to about 6,560 residents living in Adel, Cook County, Georgia. Founded in 1889, the City of Adel Water System currently obtains its supply from groundwater sources, primarily wells that drill into the Upper Floridian Aquifer underneath the area. The water system has five active deep wells with a 6 million gallons-per-day pumping capacity, three elevated storage tanks with a combined 800,000 gallons capacity, and a distribution system consisting of 75-mile mains with pipe diameters ranging up to 16 inches.
