The City of Clayton Water supplies water to about 7,225 residents living in the Clayton, Tiger, and Mountain City areas in Rabun County, Georgia. The sources of water include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. The City of Clayton Water Department purchases wholesale water from the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority, which operates the Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant in Lakemont that provides treated water for the City of Clayton. The raw water undergoes coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection with chlorine or other disinfectants before it is distributed to the customers.
