The Electric City Utilities, a division under the City of Anderson Department of Utilities, provides water for about 38,594 residents living in the area of Anderson, South Carolina. Established in 1828, the Electric City Utilities currently obtains its supply via purchase from the Anderson Regional Joint Water System, Hartwell Lake Filter Plant, which is supplied by surface water from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hartwell Lake Reservoir.
