The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA), a local government body for water and wastewater systems, provides water for about 255,884 residents living in the City of Pensacola and Escambia County area. Established in 1981, the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority collects water from its 28 active wells distributed throughout its service area that pump water from the Sand-and-Gravel Aquifer.
