The Hart County Water & Sewer Authority provides water services to about 5,637 residents in the Hartwell community of Georgia. Founded in 1992, the Hart County Water & Sewer Authority purchases water from the Cities of Hartwell, Lavonia, and Royston. Hartwell City's water comes from Hartwell Lake at Lightwood Log Creek, Lavonia collects from Hartwell Lake near Franklin County Boat Ramp Road and Crawford Creek Reservoir, and Royston City's water originates from the North Fork of the Broad River and wells on Brooks Street and Royston Highway in Hart County. The water from all sources is treated with fluoride to protect dental health and disinfected with chlorine to prevent microbial contamination.
