The City of LaFayette Water Department, a public community water system under the City Water and Sewer Department, provides water for about 18,177 residents living in LaFayette, a city in and the county seat of Walker County, Georgia. Established in 1835, the City of LaFayette Water Department System currently obtains its supply from four sources: groundwater supply from Big Spring Plant, located on Indian Street; and Lee School Road Plant, located on Lee School Road south of LaFayette. They also buy from Walker County Water Treatment Plant, which draws water from four wells: Crawfish Spring, Paleozic (Limestone) Knox Aquifer, and New Alabama Aquifer, as well as Catoosa County Utilities, which draws water from the Paleozic-Rock Aquifer.
