The Thomson-McDuffie County Water & Sewer Commission, a public community water system under the Local Government, provides water for about 21,312 residents living in Thomson, a city in McDuffie County, Georgia. Established in 1854, the Thomson-McDuffie County Water & Sewer Commission System currently obtains its surface water supply from two sources Usry's Pond, a small spring and surface fed impoundment that can withdraw 1.5 million gallons per day, and Clarks Hill Reservoir, an intake and new water treatment plant constructed on the Big Creek branch north of the City of Thomson and can withdraw 3.1 million gallons per day.
