The Port Huron Township Water Department, a public community water system under the Department of Public Works, provides water to about 10,654 residents living in Port Huron Charter Township, a charter township of St. Clair County in Michigan. Founded in 1827, the Port Huron Township Water Department System currently obtains its surface water supply from the St. Clair River. There are two 36-inch-diameter intakes that gather raw water. The water is then pumped into the distribution system, which contains almost 170 miles of water main and roughly 1,400 fire hydrants, following treatment.
