Ypsilanti has multiple water providers: Ypsilanti Water and Superior Township Utilities. This page provides information about Superior Township Utilities.

The Township of Superior Water supplies water to about 6,765 residents living in the Superior Township and Ypsilanti area of Washtenaw County, Michigan. Superior Township Utilities purchases water from the Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA) and the Ann Arbor Charter Township. The YCUA receives water from the Great Lakes Water Authority, and the water originates from the Detroit River, within the Lake St. Clair, Clinton River, Detroit River, Rouge River, and Ecorse River watersheds in the U.S. and parts of the Thames River, Little River, Turkey Creek, and Sydenham watersheds in Canada. The Ann Arbor Charter Township buys water from the City of Ann Arbor, which provides primarily surface water from the Huron River and 15% groundwater from several wells. The water is filtered, treated, and disinfected to improve its quality before it is distributed to the customers.
