The Youngstown Water Department, provides water for about 148,000 residents living in the Youngstown area. Established in 1797, the Youngstown Water Department receives all of its water from the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District, a public water system, which uses surface water drawn from the Meander Creek Reservoir.
