The Newton Water Supply is a public community water system under the Municipal Waterworks that provides water for about 15,760 residents living in Newton, the county seat of and most populous city in Jasper County, Iowa. The Newton Water Supply System, established in 1904, currently obtains its groundwater supply from a variety of sources, with over 75% coming from the South Skunk River and Gravel Alluvial Aquifer and less than 25% coming from the Jordan (Cambrian-Ordovician) Aquifer.
