The City of Hiawatha Water, a public community water system under the local government, provides water to about 7,183 residents in Hiawatha, in Linn County, Iowa. Founded in 1949, the City of Hiawatha Water System currently obtains its supply from five groundwater wells that drill into the Silurian Aquifer underneath the area. Additionally, the system has two 500,000-gallon storage tanks and an iron removal plant.
