The City of Vinton Water supplies water to about 4,938 residents living in the Vinton area in Benton County. Vinton Water Department's water comes from the Buried Sand and Gravel Aquifer and is pumped with three shallow wells located alongside the treatment plant. The water undergoes a series of treatment processes, including aeration to remove hydrogen sulfide/rotten egg smell, pre and post-disinfection with chlorine, filtration to remove iron and manganese, and the addition of fluoride and polyphosphate to promote dental health and protect underground pipes.
