The City of Aztec Water supplies water to about 5,960 residents in the Aztec area of San Juan County in New Mexico. The City of Aztec Water Department obtains water from three surface water sources - Aztec Ditch Lake, the Lower Animas Ditch, and the Animas River, which flows through the heart of the Town. The Aztec Ditch connects Cedar Hill and Aztec High School and supplies the Lower Reservoir at the treatment facility on Highway 173. The water from all sources is treated through coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation processes, filtered, and disinfected with chlorine to improve the quality.
