Santa Fe County Utilities-South Sector, a public community water system under the Water Wastewater Division of the Department of Public Works, provides water to about 7,000 residents in Santa Fe, the Sangre de Cristo foothills in New Mexico. The Santa Fe County Utilities-South Sector System currently obtains its supply from blended sources: groundwater sources, primarily 21 wells that drill into the aquifer underneath the area, and surface water supply drawn from Rio Grande and Santa Fe River.
