The Gates County Water System, a public community water system under the City Water Department, provides water to about 11,621 residents living in Gatesville, a town in Gates County, North Carolina. Founded in 1830, the Gates County Water System currently obtains its groundwater supply from three deep wells, drawn from the Cape Fear Aquifer. Today, the water system has three overhead storage tanks to maintain, two of which are 250,000-gallon tanks and one of which is 400,000 gallons.
