The City of Bessemer City Water, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Works, provides water to about 5,500 residents in Bessemer City, Gaston County, North Carolina. Founded in 1893, the City of Bessemer City Water System currently obtains its surface water supply mainly from Arrowood Lake, off Sunset Drive, and secondary from Webber Lake, off Old Mill Road. Raw water for these reservoirs is pumped from Long Creek, just northwest of the city. Consequently, it has two emergency connections for backup in case the need arises from the City of Kings Mountain and the City of Gastonia.
