The West Carteret Water Corporation provides water for about 15,679 people living in the Newport area in Carteret County, North Carolina. Established in 1984, the West Carteret Water Corporation collects water from five 10-inch wells, one 12-inch well, and two 6-inch wells located in the Croatian National Forest. The water is pumped from the Castle Hayne Aquifer and to the treatment plant located at 4104 Highway 24 in the community. The water is aerated and stored in two 50,000 gallon ground storage tanks located adjacent to the plant.
