The Hyde County Utilities provides water services to about 5,256 residents of Swan Quarter City in North Carolina. Hyde County Water System obtains water from three sources: two wells in the Ponzer region off Highway 45 drawn from the Castle Hayne Aquifer, two shallow wells in the Fairfield area along SR 1305, and two wells in Engelhard. Fairfield and Engelhard wells pump water from the Yorktown Aquifer. The water is treated with three Reverse Osmosis water plants, which utilize filtration, aeration, chlorination, and pH adjustment processes to produce potable water.
