The Town of Winterville Utilities is a public community water system under the Department of Public Works that provides water to about 10,462 residents living in Winterville, a town in Pitt County, North Carolina. Founded in 1880, the Town of Winterville Utilities System currently obtains its supply from two different sources. First, the town has its own groundwater source; primarily, there are three wells that drill into the Black Creek aquifer underneath the town. These waters are sourced from several locations throughout the town, namely: the Hunsucker Well at Church Street Extension, the Ragland Well at Cannon Road, and the Ballpark Well near Recreation Park off Division Street. Another water source is obtained from the Greenville Utilities Commission, which pulls water from different sources, including the Tar River for surface water and eight wells for groundwater.
