The Butler County Water & Sewer Department provides water for about 110,409 residents living in the Hamilton area, Ohio. Established in 1800, the Butler County Water & Sewer Department currently obtains its supply via purchase from two suppliers: the City of Hamilton that draws water from the Great Miami Buried Valley Aquifer (groundwater); and the Greater Cincinnati Water Works that draws from the Great Miami Buried Valley Aquifer and the Ohio River (surface water).
