The Carrollton Water Utility Services, under the City Public Works Department, provides water for about 127,980 residents living in the Carrollton area. Established in 1878, the City of Carrollton Water contracts with the City of Dallas for the community’s water supply. Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) uses surface water from seven sources: the Elm Fork of the Trinity River and lakes Fork, Grapevine, Lewisville, Ray Hubbard, Ray Roberts, and Tawakoni.
