The Fredericksburg Water, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Works & Utilities - Water / Wastewater, provides water for about 14,500 residents living in the area of Fredericksburg, a city, and the seat of Gillespie County, Texas. Established in 1854, the City of Fredericksburg Water System currently obtains its supply from a blend of groundwater sources, primarily nine groundwater wells; eight are located in the Ellenburger and one in the Hickory Sands Aquifers.
