The Gastonia-Scurry Special Utility District provides water service to about 9,417 residents of Kaufman County within the Cities of Scurry, Kaufman, Crandall, and Talty. Founded in 1966, Gastonia-Scurry Special Utility District supplies water from Lavon Lake and Lake Tawakoni through a purchase from the North Texas Municipal Water District and transported through transmission lines to the community.
