The City of Terrell Water, under the City Utilities Department, provides water for about 17,500 residents living in the Terrell area, Texas, including Elmo, College Mound, North Kaufman, Lawrence, High Point, and Poetry Water Supply Corporations. Established in 1874, the City of Terrell collects supply through purchase from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD), which draws from two main water sources. The primary source is Lake Tawakoni. The secondary source is Lake Lavon.
