The City of Gallup Water System, under the City Utilities Department, provides water for about 23,530 residents living in the Gallup area, New Mexico. Established in 1881, the City of Gallup Water obtains its supply from a groundwater source, 16 wells tapping from two main underground aquifers: the Gallup Sandstone and the Dakota Westwater Aquifer.
