The City of Jacksonville Water, a public community water system under the City Services Department - Water & Sewer Division, provides water for about 45,712 residents living in the area of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Established in 1842, the City of Jacksonville Water System is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of ground water sources: 15 Cretaceous wells that draw water from the Upper and Middle Black Creek Aquifer, and 20 wells in the Castle Hayne Aquifer.
