The Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU) provides water for about 49,022 residents living in the area of Salisbury, North Carolina. Established in 1886, the Salisbury-Rowan Utilities is currently obtaining its supply from a surface water source, the Yadkin Pee Dee River Basin, with intakes located on the Rowan – Davie - Davidson County line at the confluence of the South Yadkin River and the Yadkin River. This water originates from the Blue Ridge Mountains in Caldwell, Wilkes, and Surry Counties and flows to Salisbury and High Rock Lake.
